Helical bevel gear: IGES model and surface quadrilateral finite element mesh.

|
This is IGES model of a helical bevel gear - a common component of vehicles' differentials.
We selected this model to demonstrate excellent capabilities of our IGES preprocessor/converter
and QUAD-SURFACE quadrilateral mesh generator working together in order to create quality
quadrilateral finite elements meshes.
The mesh contains 59,877 elements. As it can be seen, the
mesh doesn't contain any heavily distorted elements, so a consequent finite element analysis
would deliver accurate numerical results.
Step sizes on all edges of the model were selected
automatically by the IGES preprocessor/converted, so no user interference was required during
the whole process. In case if the user needs to adjust step sizes on a particular set
of edges, that can be done directly in the SUR-file (which is an input data file for
QUAD-SURFACE mesh generator) after the converter had that file created.

QUAD-SURFACE 4.0
is our company's
top-of-the-range quadrilateral finite element mesh generator
for planar and curved surfaces in 3D space. QUAD-SURFACE uses its proprietary input data format,
which is perfectly suitable for generation of finite element models.
